    Question Starter Mounting Q?

How come you never see studs used for a starter? Would using studs be bad or is it just over kill? I'm really thinking about getting some all thread and making some studs to solve my starter problem. Would this work?

    Thanks.

Because you'd have to drop the starter down the whole length of the stud to take it off and the nosecone would hit the bellhousing before it cleared. And if you were going to remove the stud everytime use a bolt.

Use the correct starter bolt with the cross hatches. They keep the bolt from backing out when under stress from starting.

Not if you put in an access door under your starter in your hull
You could keep an eye on it then

Starter bolts have a knurled shank to locate the starter correctly. Studs won't have that, and if they did, the clearance issues previously stated would come up. Just use the starter bolts, you can get them at any Kragen/Checker/Shucks. Spend the money you save on something else you need, like blower belts or an Olds engine

Now that is a potentially workable idea. The 3 in my top mount are a bi**h untill you get one started to help support the thing, and I don't have an open engine.
