    Default What's it gonna take...

...to push my boat into the low 80s? Currently I'm running a 1978 Marlin Tigershark...basically a Tahiti splash. Motor is a BBC, 9.5:1, RPM Air Gap manifold, Holley 750dp, MSD ignition, Isky 280H mega cam, Bassett OT headers with slip in baffles. Pump is a Berkeley w/American Turbine split bowl, bronze shouldered wear ring, American Turbine AB impeller and front clearance set at 0.035". Aggressor droop w/2* down wedge and Place Diverter. White Lightning loader w/7" blocker, no shoe, no ride plate.

Currently I'm hitting 79mph @ 5400RPM. Tried to play with the diverter to get that extra 1mph but 79 was it. That was with one tank full (12 gallon tanks) and the other about 1/2 full.

Adding a shoe/ride plate is not an option.

What other mods can I do to push her to say...82?

Also...what can I do to recover my hole shot. Would an inducer help?

Remove some blocker, you don't need that much, as you said you will not be running a shoe/plate. This may help on the top end as well, also keep check on your impeller, if it's aluminum, The excess cavitation (lo speed & high speed) will eat at it.

Remove some weight. All the added crap for a speed run needs to be removed. Seat cushions, anchor, oar, spare oil, ropes, tools, and full fuel tanks add up to a few mph.

Its needs a ford in it....HaHa

Why are you tossing out the shoe/rideplate? I added one and went from 70 to 75.8. I said I would never pull the intake, I'm glad I did.

What's your current timming at? Possible to add more?

Why are you eliminating the the possibility of a shoe and ride plate?

not only that were you headed down river or up river that makes a huge difference on the over all, its better to make 2 runs up and down river then average the 2 speeds. even better go to a lake.

Polished tunnel ram, 2 Dominators (pro-forms of course), and a big mail-box intake scoop.

    And a faster tow vehicle.

All the rest would let you advertize 100 on e-bay.

    Good luck with it dude.

Why not put a 75-100 hp shot of nitrous to it? Why are you dead-set against the shoe/rideplate? Too much work?

Not sure what your bottom looks like but you may be able to grab a few MPH if it's got a good amount of hook and you straighten it out a bit.
