Default 20' Spectra. What might it be worth?

I came across a 20' Spectra jet Day cruiser,That some one want's to sell.
I was just wondering what I would expect to pay.
The Guy called My Wife back and said He want's $5,000.
I think it is around a '77. The boat has been sitting for a very long time. The last registration was in '94.
The interior is covered with dirt but seems to be in fair condition, and may clean up. The carpet is shot. The stingers seem to be ok ,but would have to investigate further.
The Gellcoat is faded ,but may be able to be brought back to life with a clorsand and polish.
The engine is a 460 ford, and looks to be in good condition externally, But I do not know if it run's. it has been sitting for 14 years.since 1994 and do not know if the engine has been ran at all in that time.
The Pump looks like a Berk Jc and looks to be in good condition. It sits on a tandem axel trailer wkich seems to be in fair condition.
That's about all I know about it,untill I can take a closer look.
I was just wondering what it might be worth. I think in the condition that it is, that 5K is too much ,but I do not know for sure. I know a 20 spectra just sold not too long ago in the spam for 5K but it was in clean condition and in running condition. Any help on pricing would be apreciated....Hal

from what you described..that boat sounds very similar...a little smaller than mine. If that's the case..it's worth 20K easily how it sits. haha...

IMHO, this guy probably wants too much especially if it's been sitting for so long. i would think some pics maybe would help. BUt i am by no means a boat appraiser.

If it's been sitting that long and not taken care of, I would say $5k is way too much. I would think more in the $2,000 range

I'm leaning in this direction as well ...

but if it runs, $4k at the most?

you have to think of how much $$$ it's gonna take to get it going. you're looking at an easy $3k-$4k if you're just doing a freshen up on the rings/bearings & pump (which I would do anyways since it's been sitting so long)

    They are nice cruisers though.

Yeah, I would say $2500 tops. If he wants 5k let him do the clean up and get it running again.

    Default couple more

The interior has a couple of hard brittle spots. There are a couple of stress cracks on the inside right at the foreward reverse control.
Just looking for what might be a fair price to offer the Guy,but there aint no way in hell I would go $5K,and the Guy also said he was letting it go cheap and he could not come down at all.Ha!Ha!.....Hal

I'm gonna stick to the $2,000 mark. Your going to spend a ton of time just on the gel alone. Then there's new tire and bearings on the trailer maybe new bunks. Then the interior is gonna be dried out and need replacing then you still need to get it running. It's a good looking boat but it's going to need alot of work.

    Cool

Looks like it'll clean up, but unless you are buying it for the wife, it's gonna need all new paint and that ain't cheap! It has the wrong windshield too.

    I'll stick with $2500 just cuz it's a Spectra.

very much the same hull as mine...i think everyone's right on with the price. Gotta love the roadrunner trailer with the original tires! 500 for tires alone..that may be a bargaining point too! very nice looking boat though!

I agree. It'll take hours and hours to get it shipshape again not to mention the money. Print this thread out and show it to him. Maybe he'll come to his senses. Pat
