    Default logs sizes?

do some logs stick out further from the block than others? i just picked up a carrera 20.5 and the dog house hits the front outside of the logs causing the sides of the dog house to bulge out, but they are about 4 inches from the rear of the logs. so its either a new dog house so i can fit the little jumper seats next to the dog house or new logs so the dog house fits properly.

it seems like the hardin ones stick out further in the front, they are more squared off then go straight back. the glenwoods and Harmans appear to be more swept back and don't stick out as far off the block at the front two cylinders. I have hardin logs.

Might help to know which motor you are working with.

I have Hardin, and I got impatient and bought harman logs about an hour after I posted this I think they look much better, so even if they don't help my fitment issue I'll still be happy. And if nobody posts an answer than I should be able to answer my own question next weekend. I'm also curious about the straight risers instead of the snails, I'll have to check my engine level when I take the boat out to see how high the exhaust ports are above the water line.

Just incase this ever happens to anybody else, the harman logs do fit under the engine cover where the hardin logs did not. I'm guessing the boat originally had a harman 455 and somebody swapped Hardin logs onto it. Cover fits fine now and I can fit jump seats next to the engine cover. Also in my opinion the harman logs look much nicer than the Hardin logs, more sleek and I'll bet they flow better too.

Do your snails have the step down? I cut them off my harman snails to get 3 1/2. I have the harman ford thru bolt...best log for a ford.

I got mine used with the step downs cut off, came with hoses and tips AND looked way better than the Hardins I had on previously. Not nearly as shiny as yours though.

Once buffed out I use corn starch/flour on them for a longer lasting shine.
