    Default Puke tanks

I know what they are used for but what makes the oil spit out of your breathers?

If you have ever pulled the breather off of a high performance engine while its running with a new white shirt on, you would know the answer to that question and have the shirt to prove it.....The amount of "blow by" created in an engine at high speed is and can be a lot, the oil mist thats created collects in the valve cover and gets blown out, a vacuum pump is one alternative, this makes the cranckase pressure negative and allows the rings to seal better...

Puke tanks work very well at controlling this phenominom.

So pretty much its just pressure build up that has to go somewhere which in this case releases out the breather and spits oil out? Anything or reason this may happen?

They do it even if there isn't a hole in the piston, right?

I sure hope so, cause if not then I've got a hole.

Better yet, fire up the motor, when the Valve cover is off! alot of shit goins ons, i learned that back in the third grade when my dad yelled at me...."Get your uncle a towell!"
Even @ the third grade level, it was single handedly one of the funniest things i have whitnessed in my life, but it was my dads boat! I was the cleaner upper from that point foreward! lol
I miss my youth! Fukkin rednecks!

Almost all engines have some amount of blow by, that is why most automotive engines use a PCV and a closed air cleaner.

The reason for this is the ring sealing of the piston is not 100%, what gets by creates "cranckase pressure".
Totally normal IMO, most of the engines we use in our boats were never actually designed to run at 5,500 RPM for any length of time, or sometimes even at all....
