    Default Rack Steering Setup

Does anybody have a diagram for the parts needed
for a rack style steering? Mine has a shaft that goes
inside the bezel & a through bolt all the way to the
rear of the gears. I'm sure i'm missing a part because
when tightened it wont turn (bottomed out), and it's
pretty sloppy? It's been a long time since I took it
apart & I can't remember all involved??? I'll post some
    pics soon. Thanks guys!!

Kona ,if I'm reading right (re the "thru bolt") ,the rack set up you currently have is a "Ride Guide" and truthfully its simpler and easier to simply replace the whole "shootin match" with our "rack in a box system" retro fits right in ("Cake") call if we can help you Check pms for my cell if you need help Tom

PS if you are simply missing a couple of small pieces with have loads of "spares" (we save everything)

Well, I think I got it..... There's a hard black plastic
piece that goes around the splined shaft I had installed
at the rear (towards the front of the boat) which should
of been forward. I also found a beat up large nyliner that
goes right under the steering wheel adapter just inside the
bezel. Anyone know where to get a large nyliner (1 1/4"-
    1 1/2")???

konajet74, There should be 2 of those black plastic pieces (one at each end) and a washer (it fits into a groove on the back of the dash piece).

Here's a pic of the splined shaft out of the rack with the pieces in place. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more pics while its apart.

I just bought a whole new SS141 Rack System for $120 to replace the old one that was real tight. Most places want that much just for the cable.

And when putting that beauty back together, make sure to put the rack on the BOTTOM of the pinion. I was rebuilding one of my jet boats and decided that it would look nicer up and out of the way. We got it to the ramp a week later for its maiden voyage and as we're backing it off the trailer, I realize that the steering was ASS backwards!!! I attempted to trailer it by driving it on.....no way!! I even looked at that SOB in the garage....TWICE and STILL had it wrong! LOL!!! I did a quickie parking lot job and swapped it back.
