    Default Jet Boat Question...?

I just want to know why my boat does this. And if maybe someone could shed a little light on it.
I launch my boat into the water, fire it up, put in forward and nothing happens. There is little or no pressure coming out of the rear nozzel. Does the bowl have to load with water first? Is this normal? If it is normal, How do you guys race like that? Do you start it up before you get out on the starting line?
My old boat never did this (jacuzzi wj) so I was just wandering.
Pump is a Berkeley 12 JG with an Agressor bronze AB with a MPD loader.

Tight pumps will do this install a prima jet, leave the reverse bucket open and it helps also.

very common on tight pumps, with droop snoots, shallow ramp even worse. Launch with bucket open, with the air bleed, it totally eliminates the issue.

If you have a Droop it can also add to the Problem. Prime a Jet Helps a Lot as stated above.

It's called an airlock. Think of your pump setup as a horseshoe with the open end pointing down if you have a droop and diverter. The water cannot exit the bottom of the diverter because the intake is at or close to the same level as the intake. My boat does it everytime I launch. I can either sit there for a few minutes and wait until it fills up or usually I get in the water and force water into the diverter with my hand and fire it up and I am on my way. just my .02

My brother-in-law has his son push up and down on the bow to burp the pump. He has a droop also.

You can also "burp the clean out" but for five minutes work with a drill and tap ???
