has nothing to do with the depth of a v bottom. here's the rule.

3.3.1d Hulls - Any hull design is acceptable with the exception that no blown engines will be permitted in any Sportsman class jet boat with a V-bottom.

this rule applies to any v bottom. sportsmen classes, for rule purposes, are considered QE, PE, and TE. which means, you are legal to run RR, SE, or ME. but not TE and above.

here's a link to the rule book. http://www.lucasoildragboats.com/pdf...ok_Revised.pdf

Might want to check that wording.... I don't see where its only for QE,PE,TE only. By definition of the rule book, QE, PE, TE, ME, SE are all Sportsman classes. RR is not on there.

3.1.1e Hulls - Any hull design is acceptable with the exception that no blown engines will be permitted in any Professional class jet boat with a V-bottom.

    3.1 Professional Classes
All Professional Class boats must use a drivers capsule, manufactured by a SFI Certified Manufacturer
TFH TOP FUEL HYDRO 1000 ft-dual prop only
TAH TOP ALCOHOL HYDRO 1000 ft
TAF TOP ALCOHOL FLAT 1000 ft
    PM PRO MODIFIED 7.00 – 7.99

3.3.1d Hulls - Any hull design is acceptable with the exception that no blown engines will be permitted in any Sportsman class jet boat with a V-bottom.

    3.2 Sportsman Classes (Brackets)
    PE PRO ELIMINATOR 8:00 - 8:99
    QE QUICK ELIMNIATOR 6:00 – 6.99 (1000 ft)
    TE TOP ELIMINATOR 9:00 - 9:99
    ME MODIFIED ELIMINATOR 10:00 - 10:99

several years ago, for reasons I won't get in to, sportsmen classes were divided into sportsman and brackets in the rules. brackets being rr, se, and me. sportsmen being te and pe (and subsequently, qe). for more reasons, there was an effort to eliminate this discrimination a couple three years ago.
in the previous rules, this rule had been revised based on the rules division between sportsmen and brackets. i.e., it did not apply to the brackets (rr, se, me). the -intent- never changed with respect to this rule when things were changed back again to all open boats being sportsmen.
this rule has been around for a long long time, and it's never really changed. blown v bottoms are ok for rr, se, me. not for te and above. I realize (and you are correct), the current language does not reflect that. but it was, and will continue to be, intent.

it's also understood that many many years ago, blown v-bottom's ran in classes quicker than me. not disputing, or trying to justify the rule. just saying, this is what it is and what will be enforced in lucas. and again, I agree there needs to be a revision for clarification.
