    Default FTN Nozzle

looking for a little advice here. I have been tossing around the idea of having my place diverter nozzle machined for the nozzle inserts. Would like to hear if this is a effective way to gain a little performance. Boat is a 18' v hull, I have a Berk JB pump with a JG bowl, detailed SS B impeller, inducer, stuffer, open loader with the leading edges of the ramps .010" above keel, flat shoe at keel, plate at 4* up, mini droop. My motor spins the impeller 5500-5600 rpm without the N20. I also have pressure gauges on the pump with 30# top and 20# bottom. I take those readings about 1/2" in front of the inducer. I searched the forums and found some info about detailing the bowl which I also would like to hear more about. I guess my question is, would reducing my nozzle overall diameter with a insert improve anything for me? Also, would a good bowl detailing benefit my application?

    Thanks in advance.

I would just pick up the phone and call Chris at B1 B1 Racing LLC. - Home - Santa Ana, CA or Jack at MPD 949-631-2040. Get your answers straight from the people who really now what they're talking about. Both are very easy to talk to. Best bet would be Tue or Wed since I'm sure they're at the race this weekend.

Dan @ Jett is the one who set up my pump with the inducer and stuffer a few years ago. No problems with Dan, was looking for feedback from the group.

having the nozzle machined for inserts is a relatively inexpensive performance upgrade over the stock as cast nozzle. stock diameter is -somewhere- around 3 3/16, but not perfectly round. at your performance level, a 3.0625 would be an improvement.
