Not exactly a common motor for jet boats.

The 500" Caddie is one of my favorite motors. I have built 5-6 for bracket cars and they all kicked butt. Make a mild motor and put it in a light car and it last forever and kicks butt big time. I would conceder using one in a boat but I think all of the accessories would be hard to come by. I have never looked but I would bet they are.

    Thumbs up

If you have fab skills go for it!! Im sure a header company can build some upswept headers for it.schoenfeld in arkansas cld build the headers. pto to jetpump is gna be tuff to get tho.wonder if a vdrive pto exists for them that cld be machined for 1310 driveshaft?

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

There used to be a guy back in the late 80's-early 90's that tried to run a 500 Caddy in a TAD... and not as a novelty, but tried to be competitive. I don't recall his name, but he was from Minnesota or Wisconsin... one of those "locked in for the winter" places that breeds crazy guys.

The bellhousing should be the same as the Olds/Pontiac/Buick... not sure about the front though. Headers will be a bit of a pain seeing that almost nothing else will share the same pattern. It would be a fabricator's fun project... torque like crazy... but much of the downsides you find with the Olds, you'll find ten fold with the Caddy. Not a bad engine per-se... just at that point... why not a 6.2 GM diesel if you want big, heavy, and weird?

Price Motorsports makes these adapters for a Ford intake:

FYI... Big Block Chevy exhaust spacing is very close to the Caddy. You can cut the flanges off a set of BBC headers and spread them a bit and weld them to Caddy exhaust flanges which are readily available. I did this when I installed a 500 Caddy in a Ford van so I know it works.

Default I Know I'm going to get hell for this

Fellow up here in Canada ran 500 Cadillac in commercial aluminum boat hooked to 2 Berkeley pumps. When he finally wore out the Cadillac he installed a 502 B/B, turned exact same rpm, no better, no worse.

It wasn't much work at all... I got the motor and turbo 400 for $300 and had it installed with no cutting or welding. I needed a work truck that would tow a heavy load and the Caddy sure worked out better than the 351 that was in there.
I took it to the high school drags one night and none of the ricers wanted to race me (not cool enough)... Well, after I cleaned the first one they all got in line to race me and I beat every one. I had a cheering section at the line and my wife said they erupted in cheers every time I got the win light... It ran 14.8 at 88 mph, enough to smoke the Honda's.. I will say that some of them should have beat me but they didn't know how to anticipate the lights... I heard some of them looking the van over muttering 'who is that old guy?" They didn't know about the 500 Caddy, Edlebrock, 850 Holley, headers and cheaters on the back... If they'd asked, I'da told em...

I don't know if this is a 500 or not, and it is in a v-drive and not a jet. The boat runs good. The red & white Bristol in the background of the 2nd pic has a Caddy in it also (v-drive).
