Be sure to keep your race fuel in a sealed container made of steel. It's good for about a year sealed up from what I've heard. I put dates on all my cans when I buy them so I know how long they have sat since I bought them. I only buy the 5 gal cans at a time. I bought a 55 once and didn't go through it fast enough. The river boat gets 91 and gas stabilizer at the end of the season.

Also to add to this it's a good idea to elevate them slightly so air passes through the bottom instead of setting them down on concrete

The guy I get mine from says its good for 2 years. VP 110

I bought 55 also and I won't do that again. I think 35 will last a race season.

i've been buying by the drum for 10 years and never had a problem. key is keeping them tightly sealed. for use, i use 5 gallon cans with drum bungs, so they are sealed tight as well. the 5 gallon cans with the plastic pour snout and little plastic cap don't seal all that well, just imo.

i've had race fuel suppliers tell me drums/cans will last indefinately if effectively sealed. not so sure about that, but not going back to hunting down 5 gallons at a time.

    Sealed steel drum for storage.

Anything in the boat I would write off as don't trust to perform.

When I get home from a race I pour the unused fuel from the jugs back in the drum and most of the time there is very little left in my fuel cell. And like Brad said get the barrel off the ground, I just set mine on a few cut 2x4s. I hadn't messed with it that much so I was just gonna start getting enough to last a season. I won't burn 55 gal in a year, might burn 5 gal at a race. But I will always store it in a drum.

5 gallons? dude, you need to start makin some rounds. maybe go do some testing... a drum will last me about a year, +/-.

i've always set my drums on 2x4s. and have my 5 gallon mini-drums sitting off the ground. when i get home, just disconnect the hose at the pressure regulator, pump the fuel left in the tank into an empty mini-drum.

I buy VP fuel in 5 gallon sealed pales.Fuel won't last in drums very long in the heat.I take at least 3 pales to every race.

Butane is added to fuel to determine vapor pressure. That's why the tight seal is so important.
