    Default jet rudder question

The boat I just bought has a rudder on it and that s%*t has got to go! I took the boat on a quick run yesterday and prior to leaving the house I tried to pull it off. When I unbolted the rudder and pulled it off I noticed that the pin that goes into the bottom of the nozzle was attached to the rudder. I was running short on time so I just threw the rudder back on for now. Is that pin permanently attached to the rudder? If so where can I buy a new pin?

Safe to assume its plastic ? If so the plastic OEM Berkely style rudders are molded around the base of the pin , Aluminum OEM styles and aftermarket styles like ours are cast, machined and bored and use a stainless set screw with a similar pin . Obviously if you remove the rudder (as you found out) it will require a different and shorter pin. Re the advanatges or disadvantages of rudders , that's another subject that gets beat to death on these boards regularly (search) If you need a short lower pin we have hundreds , you pay the freight I'll give you one .. Tom
