Ceramic header coating

I bought some dry headers with a new ceramic coating on them, I was telling a friend I was excited about the headers because they look killer... he said not for long because the ceramic coating will just burn off on those dry headers.

Is that correct, that ceramic coating burns off of headers?

Don't use JETHOT.

They will look like this in no time. not burned off but I am changing to chrome again. My brother bought new unchromed headers and his Jet hot burned off and still has chunks missing after they recoated them.

I'll take your word for it if I ever need to re-coat them. But... they'll look like what?

i've ran a 150+lbs of nitrous thru my shoenfeld upswept dry headers and they still look great. they did dull about 6inches from the head, back to the headflange, but i expected that, i'm making some serious egt i'm sure on the bottle. when the headers look alil dull, i just hand polish them with the mother's polish you use with the powerball, makes em look brand new. i'll never own another set of chrome/wet headers again if i can help it. i got sooo many positive comments on my headers this summer at the lakes, i'd be willing to bet 3-4 sets show up on boats around here now.

were you runnin mufflers? that's the only time i've seen dry headers do that with ceramic coatings. when you run wet headers and mufflers, the exhaust temps are cooler. imagine how hot it is inside that headers with the collectors half plugged with muffler

Yes I run baffles 1/2 the time but they are open in the center. I am going back to chrome where they look better. Those headers look like hell next to all mylabor in polishing (Mine and Romero's Polishing)

maybe that's why mine still look soo good, they've never been molested by baffles or mufflers

and i got safety checked twice this summer

I get my balls busted at the lake by the rangers (The senior ranger). even with baffles. I have to run them when I launch and do until e get to the back of the lake where we make our passes and piss off the fishermen.

Dont really have any experience with jethot but from what i've read around here is that it also takes the right shop. I've read posts about people having it come out like shit and posts about it comming out great. Around here embee (think thats thats how it's spelled) is the place everybody always raves about. I used them for a few things, they are nice guys and seam to have ok prices.

When I said JET HOT, I mean't them. The JET HOT shop in Phoenix. Embee I have heard great things about.

If it is anything like car ceramic ( I am sure it is! ) you have to cure the coating by going through a couple hot cold cycles. When you buy hooker super competition headers or doug thorleys , they come with instructions on how to cure them properly. They also state not to break in a new engine with them untill cured.
I would imagine any shop ceramic coating headers would inform the customer of this , but hey you never know!
