    Default Back Cut Shoe

what exactly does a back cut shoe do for a "v" bottom hull like a 19'? i think it adds lift, but what else does it do? less water pressure?

It changes the biting edge location, while making the ride plate lower. Allows you to not over stuff the pump, with shoe, yet let the boat step up and ride on the plate. Kind of like having the shoe running deeper than the keel, but with out all the bad stuff on shut down. Lets you run flatter and drier, makes for quicker ET's at the track.

i'm guessing that since it runs flatter the boat isn't acting like a sail thus cutting off time on your ET

Do your'e self a favor. Go out in the yard and grab the garden hose then turn it up full blast. Then put your'e thumb over half the opening. less volume and more thrust. Then go in the house and think. Whats going to work for your'e application.

Hull lift. Less wetted area to push through the water.

    Would look something like this:

The opposite of taper. The tapered shoe is thinner and the rear end and relieves water out the back in. A back cut is sloped down at the rear end and compresses water for lift. Or something like that.
