    Default Race shaft?

I've got a couple Berkeley pumps, and a Dominator pump all lined up on the bench. Something I never noticed was one of the pumps has a reduced diameter on the shaft, the area exposed in the suction housing, is reduced to about an inch diameter, maybe a little more. It reduced after the suction seal, to just forward of the impeller. By just having the three pumps all side by side, you can really see the differences. The reduced dia. shaft clearly would allow more water to pass by, but at what cost is the HP limit on such a piece.

Can't remeber the name of the company, I remember they were out of New Zealand, they made impeller shafts from solid 4130 chromemoly and they had a "narrow" in the shaft, I want to say the initials were TNS, but having a senior moment...

Yes, I'd like the bowl on the left... the pump housing, impellor shaft, and inducer in the middle... and the impellor on the right... oh, can you make that super size please? Frick, I just noticed the jetaway!

    Nice bench!

With an inducer would it be obsolete? Sleekcrafter has some good stuff going on.

i've got a video of hass828 and my uncle racing way over 100 on the home pc when my uncle snapped his shaft in 2 right before the impellor, bout went for a swim. a tapered shaft is a bad idea unless its some exotic material imo. load and unload 1200hp+ once or twice and someone will get hurt.

made a few titanium shafts for a reseller in kansas in the early 90's but do not know who he sold them to. pretty sure that he gave one to papp. the stuff was extremely brutal to cut. i recall that the retail pricing on these was about three times normal.
