    Default Transporting fuel

Anyone know the laws regarding transportation of fuel. I will need to bring my own fuel with me this year , but not sure how chp is going to like me driving down the hwy with a 55 gallon drum of E85 in the bed of my truck. How is everyone else transporting fuel. Was also thinking about a transfer tank but not sure yet.
    Thanks in advance

A buddy of mine has a buggy that runs on ethanol. He throws the 55 gallon drum in the back of his pickup. I believe the drums are okay to transport.

I think you can carry 119 gallons, legally...

I had (5) 55 gallon drums of Shell URT in the bed once, with a CHP officer riding with me and HE was nervous about getting stopped

I've never had a problem either but I was at the local speed shop today and was warned about chp watching our closest station like hawks and pulling everyone over to inspect for proper transportation . I'm thinking this is something I might want to just give chp a call about. Last thing I need is a ticket for transporting hazardous material illegally.

Only allowed 5gal in plastic containers. In a sealed steel drum, I believe you are OK
I'll paddle my flat before I drive anything else!

u can haul 110 gallons in a truck without any issue. must be in steel container with strap around it and lid strapped on tight.

the biggest thing they'll nail you for is if theres vapors escaping from it. hence the "ca approved plastic jugs" that we all have to buy now.

My friend and a few of his friends drove to Glamas towing a huge toyhauler and had 4 barrels of diesel in the back of his truck, I'm shocked they never got pulled over! Would be a great idea to make a call and find out for sure!

Thank you all for your help. Called chp this morning and got transfered to there person in the hazmat department. I was informed that because it was for personal use, as long as i dont have more than 119 gallons im ok with a few stipulations. It has to be correctly marked stating it is a class 3 hazardous material and that it is flamible. Looks like im good to go!
