    Default impeller issue

    what would cause this?

it's an AT A/B with about 40 hrs on it. You can see the the chunks out of it are at the same location at each vane along with the cracks the go along the wear surface following the shape of the vane.

It almost looks like the Impeller was expanding at the blade ends along the wear ring band, cracking (aluminum) and breaking apart.
    Maybe too much HP?
Of course I could be totally wrong

There was a full blocker used for about 4 or 5 hrs, I thought about what you or someone you know went through with the blocker. A semi blocker was also used for a short time while the testing and tuning was going on

I don't know if it's just the pics, Steve, but that wear ring skirt looks awfully thin. Has this impeller been reworked or was it new when installed?

Aluminum impellers and blockers don't mix. I thought we covered this before.

That's like the 20th time he's gone by today?"

we did and I learned that lesson. The blocker used with this was approx 8" long measuring from the plate back
