Default Impeller choice for a 350??

So I took my bowl off to replace it and I'm running a bronze A for my stock 350. I'm spinning 4000 rpm max at 45 mph. Should I drop down sizes to get more speed out of it? I'd like to go faster since they make pontoons that do 44 and john boats are passing me 😢

Haha. We'll I don't wanna switch motor yet. I just about to have it finished up for the summer and the girl friend would kill me of I had to do more to it and spend a lot more money. She's ready for all my time to have actually paid off this summer.

then I guess your going to a b or c . you need to figure out aprox hp and desired rpm ,then look at Berkeley impellor chart.

Its a bit hard to judge based on your description "stock" , but your numbers are pretty close in line with a stock 350 and an A impeller ... the motor may like a small impeller better and spin up closer to where it likely makes more HP by using a B- or C , cant have the toons blowing by you now (numbers are approximate)..

    A HP
    4000 228.98 300.54
    4100 246.59 315.75
    4200 265.07 331.34
    C HP
    4300 204.56 249.75
    4400 219.16 261.5
    4500 234.45 273.52

Okay sweet. But it's a stock rebuilt 86 350 from a truck is what I have been able to find on it. Got a Holley 600 carb.

Heck I'd probably say 300 if that. The motor was already in the boat and the guy before didn't know anything on it. He could even get it running( distributor was backwards)

If I was you I wouldn't touch the pump until you get the motor you want in there. You don't want to put money into it just to change it again a couple months later.

I have a friend running a sbc and a fresh Berkekey A at 4500. Motor has a little work in it tho.
