Default Option for OMC stern to jet

Guys im trying to decide whether to buy a 73 sleekcraft daycruiser (21), or keep my 85 centurion (16ft) and possibly converting it from a omc stern to jet drive. Here is a picture of them both. Would it be worth it to swap the omc for a jet, or just upgrade the engine to a SBC and keep the OMC 800 drive. the sleekcraft has a 454 and jacuzzi yj.

I really like the lines of the centurion, but it would require upgrades, and still be on the small side for the family. Im really trying to talk the wife into both! If im successful would the centurion be better suited as a SBC OMC 800 setup (Versus the 3.8 OMC 800 it has) or swapping to a BBC and Berkeley jet.

Leave the I/O as it is. The bottom of the boat will not be designed to run a jet in it.

If your just asking for opinions, I'd drop that Centurion like a hot rock and put my efforts into the Sleek Craft. If you want a hot rod, find something a lot more suitable than the Centurion, that's a play boat at best, could get expensive if you break it.
