Yes..As far as category boats its a heads up race. How would you like to run UBFJ if everyone could dial in thier own index.

Fine ... then it's a drivers race, not a "I have a boat that's a half second faster than you and you're never gonna catch me race"

What's the fun in having won High Points for a class that there was no competition for you?

Super Eliminator is close to PCE ... you can run your boat and number (you can call it an index if you like) against anyone else.

I think whoever gets High Points in this class will have to have beat a lot of people and have a very consistant ride while being a very good driver. Something to be very proud of IMO.

you're absolutely right - there's no justification to allow someone to maintain a .6 or .7 margin over the rest of the field, when everybody else want's to run all out. and there's no reason that cannot be tightly controlled.
i just think it would be interesting to see if the boats routinely in 1 and 2 class fields would even think it might be worthwhile to try and have indexes assigned, and actually get a chance to run some elimination rounds. lakamp, dallas, kapin, et al... they sign up for classes with no one to race...

exactly right. so do we just do nothing and watch as 1 and 2 boat classes die off, or do something that gives them something to compete in?

they are similar, the difference being there is no breakout in pce. SE is a dial-in bracket race.

just winning a race in this class will be something to be proud of, because it'll be huge, with tough close competition.

What factors are driving these proposed changes? How does this benefit the NJBA? How does it benefit the racers? What happened to 7 sec? Where are the 11 and 12 second bracket boats coming from?

At the Oct race there were 46 bracket boats: 29 in 8-9-10sec, 17 in 7.5-8.5-9.5 sec. This change eliminates the classes of 17 racers (37%) while adding two classes which have no boats.

Where do the half-sec guys go? Most have worked hard to get their boats close to their number, so finding another half sec is unlikely. Option B is to slow down a half-sec. Boy will that be exciting. Sales of throttle stops will go up and drag boat racing will look like throttle-stop car racing - Boring.

All the half-sec racers who want their class eliminated please raise your hand now.

I am a bit confused about the way it was written as well. The way I thought it was orginally supposed to be was that all of the lingo and "stepping up" boats were to run together in a PCE class. But no one submitted that this year as a new rule change, maybe next year.

CS, I think that the 7, 11 & 12 second boats will be able to sign up in the SE class if they sign up in a category. I do not agree with the having to sign up with one before you can sigh up before SE, but that's the way it was presented and approved by the board. There weren't a lot of those boats, and will be more exciting than running by themselves or only 1 round on sunday IMO.

Not to mention that the amount of cash won will be similar to the gambler class.
