I know, it's late for it to be the first trip. I've been working on the CP and the weekend weather hasn't been cooperating.
The BAJA had been sitting in storage 7 months. Tank full of stabilized gas. Went to storage, uncovered her and off we went to the lake Somerville.
After cranking awhile to get gas all the way to the carbs, she finally fired off. No leaks, no missfires, just a smooth powerful rumble.
I took a lot of tools in the boat just in case. Didn't need one except the cresent wrench to tighten the drain plug.
Ran up and down the lake for 4 hours at all different speeds and RPM's. Top speed was 70 on the GPS speedo. It seemed to get there quicker than last year. Only upgrade was change the rope packing on the pump shaft. Mike said it was the worst old packing he had ever seen. It came out in little pieces and a zip lock bag of it looked like pot!
Here are a few pics of the old girl. She's a 79 19' Baja BR. I hope the CP runs as trouble free as the Baja.
