    Default Mellow Yellow Rebuild

A little history; Years ago when Doug Brittain, (my step son), was still alive, he won some championships and set a couple of records in a jet boat called Mellow Yellow. His son Jerrod, (my Grandson), who lives with us is now 18 years old and is in his senior year in high school. We found an old Condor Sprint hull just like his Dad used to race, and have started restoring it for his graduation present. Thought you all might be interested in the progress.
Here's what we started with. 1980 Condor Sprint

    Stripped out pump and rigging.

Stripped out all gauges and wiring.

Ready to go to the paint shop.

    Trailer as it came.

Restored Trailer; Paint, Wiring, Lights, Tires, Bunks, Wheel Bearings, It's done.
More pictures will be posted soon as the project progresses.

    Can you adopt me?

I'm getting ready to graduate college, and I'll take a boat for a grad present.

    Shaun,
Yes, he knows. That is him in some of the pictures. This is his incentive to do good in school and prepare for college.

Widetrack. It is paint. I don't like painted boats as they just don't seem to stand up like Gel-coat. But, we had to cut a corner or two here to make this happen.

Blytheonian; Yes, he is. Especially since we pulled a new crate 502/502 off the shelf to put in it the other day.

New 502/502 Crate Motor ready for some changes.

Putting on new windage tray, oil pump, pickup towards rear, and Bassett 10 qt Oil pan.

This is Jerrod. His pump is done and ready to go. Done by Yours Truly @ HTP

The pump is a mild lake build. Don't want to get him too fast until he's used to it. We used the old Berkeley JG that came with the boat for this low HP application. It includes; Jetaway, ATJ's best Shaft, DPS Detailed Inducer, HTP Triple Seal Mechanical Shaft/Suction Housing Seal, (greasable design), Stock AA - ATJ Aluminum Impeller, (this will be changed after the break-in period), Ultimate Wear Ring, Cleaned Bowl Veins, (no detail work), Prime-A-Jet, HTP Snoot, FTN Place Diverter, It's setting on a 5 Degree Low Profile Race Intake with a HTP Open Center-Short - Runner Top Loader in it. That's about it!
