    Default Motor issues

Having issues with my boat not wanting to go over 3000 rpm when it's under a load. In the drive way it runs fine. Changed all the spark plugs out it will take off in the water to 3000 rpm then just bogs out. Any suggestions? Need to get this thing going just bought the boat 4 months ago and the guy said he just got the jet rebuilt by jet boat performance and the old owner put a new carb on himself

Have you checked the pump to make sure it doesn't have anything in it?

It ain't in the pump. Timing or carb issue. Check fuel pressure, float level, timing.

At the time we rebuilt the jet the previous owner was advised that the Edelbrock carb that was on it needed to go and that the engine/boat needed work the fact that it runs ok except under a load suggest fuel and electrical issues ...

Disconnect the pump and see how it spins to rule it out then check your tune up full throttle float level trimming and so on is the new carb a Holley with vac secondarys if so are they working

Make sure you're getting 34-35* total advance. It sounds like the dizzy may not be advancing. Stuck/sticky advance plate maybe?

Clogged fuel filter or water seperater will cause your symptoms. All good posts, I would start with fuel system from the tanks through carb, then to ignition. I'm betting fuel issue.

Timing was mentioned earlier. I'd put a light on it and see what the initial timing is at idle and then what the total timing is at 3000 RPMs....just to see if the timing is advancing properly. I had a similar issue with my motor a while back, come to find out I had a stuck counterweight in my dizzy. After you check to see if your timing is correct, I'd then check out everything else that was mentioned.
