    Like dirty said, is the battery nearby? If so mix some baking soda n water and brush it on. If it bubbles you know exactly what it is.

    Its right next to where our wet feet sit. All I can guess is sunscreen or our hard water.

    I had wondered about it being water residue.
    Try a vinegar and water mix (50/50). That also works on shower glass
    and cleans the buildup in a dishwasher.
