You need water in the channel to run boats.

When the Storm took over the promotion of the event it became a looser for the NJBA and there was no way for the club to make any money for all of the work it took to put on the event. Also like Blender said a little water would really help. Wishing for El Nino.

Are there any discussions being had about bringing a race back to Southern CA? Why not any races on the Colorado River? With all the events that take place in Havasu and Parker I'd think it's possible.

    I'm just thinking out loud.

Lucas Oil Drag Boats is moving from Havasu to Parker in April.

I'm not talking about Lucas or ADBA. I'm talking about NJBA.

They stopped racing at Castaic long before the HTM deal. Its just not a great venue too much wind. Got blown out too many times.

The last race at Castaic was promoted by Howard with IQ Motorsports. He also promoted IHBA races at Chowchilla,Lake Yosimite in Merced and also at Lake Ming.Howard lost his ass at the last race at Castaic and never returned.Same with Ming and Merced. If some promoter wants to put up the cash $100,000+,I am sure He can get the water.

NJBA would love to have a So Cal race. Our challenges are financial usually, For example Elsinore is an expensive venue all city and county services want to be paid, fire, sheriff, traffic, lake patrol, City, Trash, ambulance Etc. There is no negotiating the fees either you pay or no event.

We have to absorb all of the set up cost and tear down most places will not allow the permeant construction of ramps, fencing etc

Weather now comes into play. we have had wind every time we have been there. Wind that is strong enough to shut down the show. Racers and there families understand weather but spectators do not. When we lose the spectators, we lose the gate and with no gate we can not afford the Fees

There just isnt enough racers or entry fees to fund such a costly event with out a good spectator participation

Now if we had sponsorship money, city and county donated there services , more racers participated (more entry fees) We would put on a racer ever year at a location like that. We could afford to have a race with or without a gate

NJBA is always looking for a new event location so if anyone has a place let us now we will check into it.

    Thank you for the reply.

That really sucks about the city. Just another sad display of how government ruins everything. It is too bad you couldn't get the city to donate their resources. After all, it is tax payer money that keeps them afloat, but that's another discussion. Even if the city partnered on the event. Obviously there is revenue to be generated from the event. A profit sahre with the city could be nice, but I'm sure unlikely as they are greedy and want it all.

What about an NJBA event at the river/ Havasu? I know wind can be a factor, but I see it done by other racing organizations.

Havasu is just too windy. Parker has been run by adba in the past and now Lucas is going to run down at Parker next year
