    Default Wear Ring Removal

I am sure this is out there somewhere, what is the trick to removing a wear ring? I have a shouldered wear ring with a non shouldered insulator. I heated the wear ring with a torch until it glowed red and the insulator never melted. I tried a pry bar and screw drivers. It will not budge. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If its trashed cut it out or try heating up only a small area then throw cold water on it, sometimes theyll crack like a bearing race will

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

I thought about trying to crack it by heating the wear ring then spraying it with nitrous. I was concerned about damaging the housing though.

Its a berk, I am taking it apart due to clearances being way off. I am trying to figure out why. The impeller to wear ring clearance is like .130 with no shims. I think the person that had the boat after you put a different pump in it. I am just going to start over with wear ring and impeller. I think its odd that the shoulder is all the way against the housing on the wear ring. I dont know much about these, I am learning though. Ill take a pic tomorrow and post it.

Oh good, id rather have that berk than a small wearring dominator. better option for wearrings! Are u gna run a ultimate wearring? I bought the last small o.d. ervin capps had and put it in that dominator housing and flowed the shoulder to the suction housing and pinned it so itd stay there.had a dps inducer and aa cut ss amt in it when i sold it.

Thanks, I have put a lot of work into it. Its still a small CI motor, I just built a nitrous system for it. Its stand alone and I am running it off of the left tank. I want to get everything right before I start spraying it. After I get the pump square I can see how much this motor will take then possibly build a big NO2 motor for it. I am only as fast as my wallet

90% of the game is half mental... The pursuit of the unknown is priceless & gratifying . Sometimes it just takes good old fashion balls. No amount of reasoning or evaluation can deem it right or wrong. At the end of the day stick with whatever gives the person in question morning wood LOL

    Yep thatll weaken it!

Hot torch line frm frt to back and ice cold water is worth a try tho. do it alot at work to fracture bushings and races.u can also braze a few beads6-7inches long around it and itll shrink the rings.. with steel races regular ole 6011 rod works but id bet brazing rod will bead fine on bronze and when it cools shrink up the ring some
