    Default Racers, any interest in

    A race for inboard boats only? No weed eater powered hydros, no jet skis, sea doos or any other PWCs. Here's what I'm thinking as far as classes;

    Comp Jet
    Comp Flat
    Super Stock/Pro Stock
    K Racing Runabout
    Grand National

    The schedule would go something like this;

    Friday-
    Pre race inspection, registration, pit set up
    Open test & practice session

    Saturday-
    Individual qualifying (time trials if you will)
    Qualifying Heats

    Sunday-
    Last Chance Qualifiers
    Main Events for all classes
    Awards & Celebration

    This is just a rough idea in my head, it's just starting to take shape so any and all input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Lucky, may be able to get some interest from the Sprint boat class too, maybe as an exibition? They can race around buoys in a different manner than just an oval, so there would be some logistics to hash, but could be fun for everyone...

    This sounds cool, I know a couple of folks over at the SOPBA (Southern Ore., Power Boat Assoc.). I could make a call or two?

    How about a Gamblers race ??? Closest to the dial in wins, open to ALL classes. Usually $20.00 to enter, winner takes all.

    Where?????
    How about Parker Az. or Havasu? Havasu is looking for ANYTHING to bring peeps into town!!!! The Nautical Inn is a great place to hold this event at. The racing would be in Thompson Bay right out front of the Nautical Inn and viewed by spectators on both shores. Great place for racing!!! Bluewater is perfect also in Parker!!!
    Talk to maximus and Jet Performance on this site for sponsorship. If you have it in Parker or Havasu, count me in for helping in anyway.

    Skipp, first off good job thinking outside the box. Now you will need to do some checking. The APBA is the largest santioning body in the US, so I would see if there is a dorment club in region 11 that you can bring back to the sport. This way you will have APBA backing and that will include K&K insurance. Now one of the other thing you will want to do is not have conflicting races. Give Roger Finney a call he can give you lots of info on the clubs and sactions the jets ran with over the years. As far as boat design, restricting race events or excluding events will only cause teams to make a choice if there is another event. This is one of the reasons SCSC includes the skis. As far as CBR we will go to events that offer both Stock O/Bs and Jet classes on a single weekend. Now if the race is not going to be sactioned by APBA the race won't count towards year end points, lower boat count. Unless the classes voted it into there schedule.

    If I can help let me know

    I'm all for running the other inboard classes, if there is enough interest in each class to make a full count. As for insurance, I have an appt with my insurance guy to see what is needed and what the cost is going to be. I would be more than happy to include the Jr Hydro classes, but I will stand firm on the jet skis, they're just plain boring the way the APBA runs them, when I raced IJSBA and we did closed course racing, that was exciting for everyone, racer and spectator alike. I know that the APBA is the largest sanctioning body and I will do all I can to obtain their sanction, however should they not be on board I have no problem doing this race "outlaw" style. We'll make the rules and set the procedures, safety being the #1 priority. As far as points are concerned, this would be a stand alone race, it'd be for the money and the glory, not the season points. Thank you guys very much for the input so far, and keep it coming! I'm going to need all the help I can get if this has even the slightest chance of becoming a reality. Stay tuned....

    Hey Skip, what about running the PWC's in a Gauntlet course like the Sprintboats? two birds, one course, might make everybody happy (er)

    I'd pay ten bucks to see that (probably cost $20 though), would be able to compare the PWC's times to the Sprinter's, that'll piss em off

    As far as conflicting with other events, unfortunately that may not be an issue in this friggen economy...Excuse me while I go find my happy place.
