If you want to go with a veneer, i would pick a real nice wood like a Birds eye maple or something, i personally think Balsa looks like parkay flooring that you would see in a early 70's home, now you get a nice laminant under glass with a nice flocoat, you will definitly turn heads! Just my opinion!

It is a top coat of clear that is catalyzed just the same as Gel, if you call Shur-fab, (562-921-5206) i would recomend the simtech brand Prestec clear top cote they cam shit mail order to you anywhere! i use this product over the Rev-chem brand, Durateck it is more clear and is idiot proof when it comes to laying it down, (i.e. fisheyes and solvent pop etc...) you can either spray or brush, it lays down real nice and can be w/sanded/polished like gel's!
It runs about $100 stones a gal. i believe some of the guys here on PB have tried this product over the durateck and will attest to this product, hell, i believe its a little cheaper too!
Hope this helps, if you have any problems with your project, lemme know i'll give help where i can.
