    Default intake grate

I have a 77 glastron carlson cvx-20 witha 429 and berkeley 12je pump with ab impeller with place diverter. Is there a different intake grate or ride plate that would help performance since this is the original 1977 equipment?

if it is original 77 equipment I would say a rebuild is the first thing I would do. unless your running over 65 keep the stock grate IMO

BTW I spent many hrs in one of those Carlson jets, great ski boat

There are a couple of loader scoops that will fit your pump, two to be exact, a sport----> http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=3285 and the Super sport------> http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=3283 What kind of power is the motor making? Beautiful boat.

i agree that you probably need to rebuild the pump, but i think you would be more than pleased to install a loader, i have installed several of the ramp loaders in the e pumps w/ very good results. you may want to check with duane at hi-tec and i think rex has them also.

Thanks for all the compliments. I should have explained, its all original pump but it was completely rebuilt to stock. EVERYTHING on this boat is new or rebuilt. motor is 429 ford and makes about 450hp.

My Taylor runs an F pump (same intake) and I installed a Pro Loader from HTP, don't know if it is same or any ammount different from the CP ones that CP Perf. posted above.

Quite pleased. Was advised (and given) 5/16" bolts to replace the standard 1/4" ers. Drilled and re-threaded the back-up plate, and jam-nutted w/ SS Nylocks for insurance.

When I called HTP they told me they dont make a loader for the "E" or "F" pumps, but the Berk loader was a good one so I went with that. It didnt affect my top end at all, but holeshot was improved some I think. Hard to tell because I had also just adjusted my valves at the same time...

Once again..........nothing to add that hasn't already been said.

That hull is my all time favorite cruiser type hull. Obviously can't take anything away from the classics (Spectras, Halletts, etc). Just something about the shape of this one that always had my attention.

As far as I know, no other maker copied the CVX-20 and it is it's own deal. I like the cleaner lines of no windscreen, but that's just a personal preference.

If I ever do buy a cruiser type hull that would be the one I'd look for.
