    Default Throttle Cable and Linkages

Can you guys tell me and/or show me how you guys are running your throttle cables? The boat came with the standard iron manifold and Holley Spreadbore carb but I didnt take off the Carb or linkage and for the life of me I cant figure out which way would be the best way to re-do the deal with my current Performer RPM and Holley DP. The current set up mounts to the Intake bolts but that is too low with the taller manifold. My pedal is also a Push type and my cable is routed to the rear of the boat and then back to the engine. If I had a shorter cable I could just come off of the front of the engine.

Anyway, photos would be great to give me some ideas of the options available!

    Merry Christmas,

    Joe

I think I am just going to have to order a shorter cable because the way you have it is the only way I can see how to do it myself.

    Thanks,

    Joe

So, route it from the back and push on the lower half of the throttle arm on carb. Not at all uncommon.

I was hoping to see some photos of a set up like that.

How about putting up a pic of the parts you have?

Just imagine the bracket in the above pics flipped around so that the cable mounts beneath it to the rear of the carb. You can see the hole in the linkage to connect the cable to in those pics, just below the throttle cable mounting plate. It really is very simple!

OLD SQUIRT, you are correct I should have put photos up. My carb linkage doesnt really have the arm below the throttle shaft but I maybe able to make something to bolt on to make it work. I also have to fab some vent tubes etc. I also have the carb on backwards from what I perceive to be the normal (linkage on odd cylinder side of engine) to see what I could make work.

    Thanks for your time,

With that cable bracket, you can always turn the carb around (doesn't care which side is front) , mount the cable bracket at right rear of intake and hook the cable up to the top side of linkage.

On closer inspection, that appears to be the way you have it mounted already.

This will work, mounts under carb or the one pictured above that mounts on top of carb plate works also.

I think I may try to re-locate the holes that hold the cable to the mount to give it an uphill slant to the existing holes on the throttle linkage. If that doesnt work I will go with the base mounts and just turn the fuel inlet around towards the front of the boat.

Thanks for all of your help. Sometimes your mind freezes and you just need someone elses opinions!
