    Default Need wiring schematic

While i got shit torn apart im going to attempt and fix this spaghatti factory i am looking at under the dash. I came accross the following diagram and answers most of my questions but i was hoping to find one for a fuel level sending unit and how it is wired.

    Thanks!!

A fuel sending unit is wired exactly like the water and oil p guages, make sure the tanks/senders are grounded well..

If you have a sending unit on each fuel tank you can wire it to a single fuel gauge by adding a SPDT switch on the dash. That way you can check the level of each tank. I forget what color wire the fuel circuit takes.

Yep, black ground both the tank and the sender (run a jumper from the sender to the tank ground wire, don't trust the fasteners to do it).

Fuel sender wire is pink color code, from sender to sender post on gauge.

I installed a capacitive sender 2 years ago and love it, no moving floats, had to add a switched red 12vdc hot/power wire to the sender tho. Auto-detects water contamination as well.

This is exaclty how it is curently set up.. Flip a switch for left or right....

So there is a ground for the sending unit and a ground on the tank it self? Did i read that right.. Its all currently set up i just want to make sure i know what i am looking at once i start to pull this apart.

What I did was run the ground wire from the sending unit to one of the screws that mounts the sender to the tank and then a wire from that same screw to the enging block ground.

I got mine from CP Performance and the price depends on your tank depth. 6" - 12" $59.99 all the way up to 49" - 60" for $103.99...

They do Gasoline, Diesel, and Potable Water (for a water tank on a big boat), Can be ordered bent if needed, their max length is 120", and compatible to most gauges ohm-requirements. Min. length is 3"
    Special orders available.
Fully epoxy potted electronics, 2 year warranty. Mine is nearing 5 years, perfect.

Installed exactly the same, SAE 5-hole mounting pattern, with addition of one 12vdc switched power suply wire.

My tank has a tab on it a few inches from the sender, for grounding. I would run a wire to such a tab and bolt it, or, to a mounting bolt, not to the sender screws, but that's just me. IMO better & more consistent contact that way.
