Default Looking for Cole Boat "GRUMPY"

This is a long shot...but I'm looking for a Cole Boat called Grumpy. Used to belong to my Dad. We pulled out a bunch of old videos the other night and it brought back a ton of memories. Had a 468 in it, yellow base hull. Ran it at Lake Nacimiento. Would have been sold in the late 70's, early 80's. If anybody has any idea what happened to it or if it is still around, I'd be HUGELY grateful.

Well, it goes to show you that a little investigative work pays off. Found it!
Now resides in Downey and has been fully restored with a blown big block in it. Here is the even cooler part...guy might want to sell it!

I'll get some pics up soon as he can get them to me. Can't tell you how jazzed I am to see my Dad's old boat still alive and kicking.

Yes, he did rename it...Cole Fire or Cold One, didn't get that on the phone as I was pretty amped up by the news.

Here are some pics he sent me of the boat before it went to be re-gel coated. Boat was pretty hard to miss with the paint it had on it. Soon as I can get some pics of the boat as it sits now I'll post them up.
Looking for a total history on the boat so if you've seen it or know who else owned it, let me know.

He didn't say where he ran it. It now has a blown motor in it. There actually WAS another boat with the same paint. It was called Old Yeller. After my dad bought it, my mom tried to drive it and it scared the bejeezus out of her. So, it was traded back to Cole and Grumpy was built. I'm also looking for info on the V-Drive too so if you've seen that running around or know who has it, I'd love to know on that too.

I know my Brother-in-law had the same paint job on his Cole tr-2 v-drive. Boat was called (Bounty Hunter). It use to hang out on the Parker strip and also up at Needles. He sold it about 7-8 years ago, maybe longer. Last time I saw it was in Hot Boat mag. at a v-drive get together, with a blown motor in it. I'll try to drum-up some pictures.

I'll bet you anything that was Ol Yeller...the original boat we built and sold back to Cole. That paintjob was pretty unique. I'd love to see pics and find out where it is today.

Here is what Grumpy now looks like. New owner renamed it Cole'd One...don't know where I got Cole Fire from?

I think he did a nice job and stayed with the theme. Apparently that paint job was VERY hard to duplicate but I think it looks great!

Cool! I'd love to have the pics. We never had a wing on it. You can e-mail them to me at kevin @ deadmold.com and I'll also forward them to my dad...who is a fellow grump that the boat was named for!
