Lake Elsinore, California-The National Jet Boat Association, Americas oldest ¼ mile drag boat racing organization, is pleased to announce the return of high-performance drag boat racing to Riverside county. During the weekend of March 21-22 2009, the NJBA presents Thunder in the Channel, a high octane racing event on beautiful Lake Elsinore.

The action will be explosive, with side-by-side racing at speeds in excess of 200 mph! Drivers will pit their V-8-powered race boats and their nerves against each other in a contest of speed and durability to see who is the fastest on the water.

The race will be held in the ski channel at the south end of the lake, directly across from Storm Stadium, starting with qualifying on Saturday morning. Throughout the day, racers will have two qualifying sessions to tune their machines and run as fast as possible on the NJBA’s brand new, state-of-the-art ¼ mile race race course.

The NJBA offers up-close-and-personal interaction between fans and race teams with a paid pit pass and spectators will also be able to get close enough to the race action to feel the thunder of 4,000 horsepower nitro-burning supercharged engines! The view from the banked shoreline as these boats rocket past you will leave your mouth open and thirsting for more!

On Sunday, the action heats up further with elimination rounds in over 20 classes including brackets as teams race to the finish line for a share of thousands of dollars in prizes! Along with the racing, the festivities will include a beer garden for the adults, a manufacturers midway selling high-performance toys, and delicious food.

This is drag racing at it’s loudest and most extreme! Grab your lawn chairs, the kids, and your friends, and spend a weekend at the races. At Thunder in the Channel, it’s the closest you’ll get to the real thing-without getting struck by lightning. For more information, please visit www.njbaracing.net

    Answers to your questions:

    1. Yes there will be on-site pit camping on a limited basis. no tents allowed.
The Fee for camping in the pits is $80.00 and is limited to the first 50 racers only that pre-register for the event. Space will go fast so i suggest visiting www.njbaracing.net soon to download the registration form and sending in your entry. We won't have room for cousins, uncles, friends and others to camp in the pits. This is for racers only.

    2. The entry fees for spectators are:
    Saturday: $15.00
    Sunday: $20.00
    Both Days: $30.00

    3. The NJBA Awards Banquet, which is usually held in late january/early february is being moved to the March race. It will be held Saturday evening, after qualifying at 7pm at the Storm Stadium Diamond Club, which overlooks the baseball field. This is inside of the stadium, which is next to the pit area. This in a better venue than the one we originally planned. There will be great food in a catered buffet, refreshments and adult beverages, music etc. The banquet is open to racers, crew and friends so feel free to come out and party. The cost is 40 bucks per person and is limited to the first 200 people that sign up. for more info, visit the njbaracing.net website.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VP RACING NAMED OFFICIAL FUEL OF NJBA

LONG BEACH, CA (March 04, 2009) The National Jet Boat Association (NJBA) today announced it has chosen VP Racing Fuels as its Official Fuel for the 2009 season. The agreement calls for VP’s distributor, Amber Racing Services (ARS), to be the exclusive on site supplier of racing fuel at all NJBA events of which there are five scheduled, all in California. VP also will post contingency awards for all classes.
"ARS is pleased with NJBA’s selection of VP as the Official Racing Fuel,” said Brian Busby, General Manager of ARS. “I’ve been a long time member of NJBA and to have VP come on board only makes it better for the racers. NJBA is the oldest Drag Boat racing organization in the U.S. (operating since 1969) and in my opinion, the finest sanctioning body of them all. NJBA runs everything from River Racers to Top Fuel Hydros. Its races are put on by the racers for the racers, so this should be a positive venture. ARS is committed to assisting VP and NJBA in making this a great season!"
“With VP's storied history of drag racing success, this is a nice fit for both NJBA and VP Racing Fuels,” said Bruce Hendel, VP’s Western Regional Manager. “In addition to providing race site fuel service, Amber Racing Services will be administering our contingency program as well."
“We are very pleased to have VP Racing as our Official Fuel,” said Ken Simonds, President of NJBA. “VP has a strong heritage in racing, we are fortunate to have them help with the growth of our series. Our racers can appreciate the advantage of using VP’s fuels.”
For more information regarding obtaining fuel, NJBA competitors can contact Amber Racing Services @ 562-432-3946.
In addition to the NJBA, VP is the Official Fuel of NHRA Championship Drag Racing, among many other series.
Based in Los Angeles, CA, Amber Racing Services is a High Performance Fuels & Lubricants Distributor serving the Western U.S. ARS services the NHRA, MORE, SNORE, DRIVE, SCORE, and BITD Series. More information is available online at: www.AmberRacingServices.com.

Don't worry Jon, you should be able to get your boat slowed down before the out ramp You are gonna run it aren't you?

So Mike, I heard both the first and second NJBA race is at Elsinore. Is that true? We'll be there assuming we don't run into any issues getting stuff back together. Being from NorCal, obviously I prefer B-field.
