    Default Spectra 20

Would it be really beneficial to add a shoe and ride plate to a boat this big?

It would take a lot more performance information than you've given us to get an intelligent answer.

    Handling problems?

I doubt that you would see any benifit to it at that level of performance.
    Thanks for the info.

    Default ride plate

Other than making the wallet lighter how could it hurt(not help) any Jet boat to have the bottom blueprinted and add a shoe and ride plate?

if the bottom was all dinged up to the point it was creating handling issues, that could be corrected. but a spectra is a big heavy layup cruiser. you could cruise one across havasu on the 4th of july in relative comfort, barely noticing the rollers are 4' high. or drive one to catalina. not something that will ever see any benefit from a shoe/rideplate. it's kind of like putting headers on a stock '59 Cadillac. you could do it, probably wouldn't hurt anything, but not much point....

a Majority of the Spectra 20 jets were set up with only two stringers (some with just an engine box) and the bottoms are pretty thin, adding full stringers would be first on my list
