Got a deal on this old girl but had to drive 500 miles to get it. Had a 454 but will have a 557 Ford soon. Doing the pump now. Kept the intake and installed my cav reducer and stainless AT imp., AT bowl, berk droop and new FTN place diverter.
You sure did a good job on taking that berk transom adapter off. Looks like it never was on there.
I am with Nick big ford in a GW perfect)THumbsUp
Good luck on your build.
That strange steering deal was on the boat bad part is I let a real one go with the old hull. Will turn one out in the shop or call HTP. The alt mount is the challenge now thinking upside down is the way as u can see the conventional mount would require a lot of material removal on the plate. Was thinking you guys may have some pics of clean set ups so i can R&D them. R&D = Rob and Duplicate lol
HTP has a nice little atlernator bracket that will get you out of that spot, might as well get the steering extension too.
Half way down this page Hi-Tech Performance : Other Performance Parts
Drilled and taped the motor plate, cut down the spacer, flipped the alt upside down and bolted it up. Made a new stud to hold the plate and adjuster bracket.
I wanted to keep the alternator as low and out of the way as possible but couldn't get the full size to work like I wanted. Ended up buying a small frame 60 amp single wire, modified the mount plate, and got it pretty close to where I wanted. the pic isn't that clear, but hopefully you can make it out.
Its a 557 deal with a set of SCJ heads ported with a solid roller 261 int and 271 ex @ 50 and 725 lift and single dom carb. Pic of what it does to impellers, lol
Thanks Duane, 00 CP that damage is from the 557 in my other boat took about 10 min to destroy that imp. It worked good with my Edelbrock headed 520. Pic is off my old boat with the 557 and the back half of the pump i have now. It was fast for a JE pump boat.
Slow progress this week The pump is now 99% cabled and plumbed. New steering extension still in sitting by the mill. Starter may be a problem, looks like it needs to sit in the bilge till after the motor goes in.
Things to plumb new fuel system: Roll of 1/2 inch aluminum fuel line CHECK, Flaring tool CHECK, AN fittings from tank to T then down to pump CHECK, Adel clamps CHECK, thread tape CHECK good fuel tanks NOT CHECK *^%$#
one tank was clean and ready the other looks like one tank had salt water in it. Has one hole in the bottom i can see may be others who knows, look at the pick ups WOW both from same boat.
New loader (from Duane at HTP) VS. old loader from ?????. Note weld quality (Tig/Mig) and solid vs stitch weld. Old loader did clean up well but no idea on its history or maker. This tub was parked for a LONG time so up dates were needed.
Got the motor in the old girl this weekend, wanted to hold off till the tanks were in but only have one built (shop crazy biz) the pump is at 4.5, motor is a tad more but it just looks wrong to me. Have put angle finder on pump, CV joint and motor. The numbers are good if any thing the joint may be to aligned. The feet are 4.5 back cut and the motor plate sits flush, carb pad and valve cover sat 5 deg. + some.
