I have a 97 shoal runner, it has a stock 260 hp. 350 chevy with a dominator pump with A impeller. I would like to get all i can out of it. Right now it will run 50 mph at 4300 rpm. I'am looking for at lest 65 mph. You think i can reach that speed with more Hp. or do i need pump work to.I know this boat is not made for a lot of speed. Any help please thanks bigjack.
Hello Bigjack and Welcome to the PB boards those little boats are really gaining in popularity in the mid south and looks like running those shallow rivers is probably a hoot, if it doesn't already , one of the first things to consider is trim for the jet and of course theres always added horse power .... Building a small block chevy 355 with aluminum big flow number heads.Edelbrock air gap intake with 750 holley street avenger.roller lifters and 1.5 aluminum roller rockers and cam to match.should be 400 + horse.I will have it done by spring. I've called and ask some guys what they done to theres, can't get much out of them.It has a new place diverter on it,may need some pump work or work on the bottom. Need for speed bigjack. Thanks.
I have an 05 Shoal runner predator w/350 vortec. I get about the same speed. The intake section is for a rounded bottom boat and mine has a delta pad. I'm thinking some re-profiling of this area will help.
My brother had an older shoal runner, it was pretty rough when he got it, we ripped all the interior out and lightened it up a bunch. He had a 383 with a decent cam, roller rockers, edelbrock heads and intake, lightning headers, 750 Holley.
Made 425 on the dyno on motor, with a 100 shot his boat would run 74. He was running the dominator pump with an "A" as well and a drop snoot.
There are a lot of these boats in my area, some run very good, several 80+. Getting weight out is key.
