    Default Well, here goes!

I had a great time at the Papp gathering yesterday. The number of boats that made it out on a January day was nothing short of amazing. There is some serious hardware tucked away in garages in So cal. I was real impressed by the Black Rogers that thing gets with it. President Obama had a good race going with the darker colored tunnel and Bandy was everywhere!!
Time for my little rant and it may make me a little unpopular but here goes.....

Doesn't anyone where one of these anymore? There were maybe 5 people that I saw wearing a lifejacket. The way some of the boats were handling and avoiding other boats, made these things mandatory. If something were to happen in that mess of boats, give the rescuers a chance to get to get you.

    2) There were some close calls with boats running into other boats. A pair of boats would punch off and one of them would end up nearly driving over the top of a boat that was just parked in the middle of the narrow end of the cove. We all need to be more aware of where we are in the cove and if we are in the path of an oncoming race. Like mentioned in another thread, go out of the cove on one side and come in on the other side like the freeway system. I saw a family in a boat with a small little child in Dad's lap driving that just about got wiped out.

    3) When coming back into the cove, either come at a healthy clip or come in at idle speed and try not to make huge rollers for the boats that are parked and the boats that are pairing up to run. I actually think Shaun did a good job of this. He made countless runs and each time he came back in the cove he was at a good speed one way or another that didnt create huge wakes.

    4) Try to keep the racing down to 2 boats. Number one it will keep 78ColeBBf from being humiliated but the narrow opening of the cove leaves room for two boats and the third boat usually gets washed down.

We only have a few places to run our boats like this and the cops seemed to be cool with us so let's just try to fly under the radar. One mishap yesterday could lead to no NJBA race held in a couple months.

I have to admit, my head was on a swivel watching all the activity going on out there yesterday! Tommy would've had a blast!

Jetboatguru, sometimes being unpopular saves lives....It sounds like someone had to say it, way to take the reins

Not trying to brown nose, I have seen some freaky accidents that never needed to happen, just a temporary lack of common sense can cause a seriuos tragedy.

Should I change my name from Sleeper CP to Mr. President ?
(Didn't vote for him but I wish him well, I think)

Tony nice seeing you again. On the life vest deal, I kind of figured that as cold as the water was if someone wanted to be rescued they would have had a vest on because I sure the hell wasn't going to swim for them.

I tried to remember to stay on plane coming back in I hope I wasn't one of the offenders more than once or twice. Hell, I had the jet-o-vator up on the other side and damn near sprayed down a few boat making a turn close to the beach. ooooops. Took over a couple of beer's to say "sorry about that" they were all cool about it.

    Once again, great day indeed.

    Sleeper CP

    aka. Mr. Pres

Sleeper, you need to start circle racing. You were hanging it out there in a few turns. Nice Job MR. President.

Come on Bob! It's a new year, be nice. Pres won some and lost some but his boat ran well from what I can see. If it doesnt work out in Dragboats he can run it in APBA Comp jet. It turns on a dime and leaves change.
