Default Cheyenne for sale without title

Does anyone know the history of this Papp Cheyenne. It is for sale in Texas, but does not come with a title.
I don't think I would want to buy a boat even if it was for race only without a title. The Guy said he bought it from another guy in Texas and he didn't have a title for it either when he bought it.

Would you guys buy a boat without a title?

If it has a HIN# and you can run it to verify there's no outstanding issues then I would buy it. Otherwise I wouldn't by a boat I can't get a title on. I've got titles on a couple boats that had fallen out of the system, there HIN # didn't come up so they were more like titling a new build.

I checked Texas and the boat has never been registered there. I guess one would have to check other states as well to see if one of them had it come up. California would be the start since it originated there. IDK.

We don't have boat titles in Arkansas. We only title the trailer. Surely somebody on here has seen that boat before and can vouch for it. You need to be careful about the paper work though if your state requires a title.

The HIN# is CYFTR 5231990 I did check with Texas game and fish and they have no record of the boat. Oklahoma does require a title for boats so no good here. The gy has it posted on East Texas Craigslist. he want $10K for the boat without motor. In case anyone want to check it out. I was just curious about it, I am boat poor right now with a Capp Cheyenne, TX-19 and TX-18 pickle fork. plus a Mastercraft ski boat. Still may not be a bad investment thou. I would rather have the Capps PGJ on the boats for sale if I was going to try to buy and flip a boat thou. the problem is I tend to hang on to them kind of like a gun. LOL

Not sure of the current owners name but his brother is who I have been talking with, He said Shane Smith owned the boat before him. He has moved to the Broken Bow Lake area last he heard.

What is the last year that Papp made boats? This is a 1990 model.

Jay...Per that HIN# the boat was bulit by Cheyenne Boat Co in Clovis,CA in 1990.It is not a Tom Papp Cheyenne.Tommy left Cheyenne Boat Co in late 1986.There was only 22 to 24 boats built by Tommy when he was at Cheyenne boats in 1985 and 1986.Tommy Did build the molds though. Ron
