Default How will my 18' Vee handle the power?

With my old combo, (a 454 turning an A impeller about 5k) the boat handled great ran mid 70's and had zero problems shutting down. Well I had oil pressure problems with the 454 (pickup fell off) so I had to pull it and rebuild it....you know how that goes. Now the boat is getting 1200hp and a 9.5" High Helix impeller and a shoe and ride plate. I'm wondering what to expect with this hull as far as high speed stability, shut down characteristics, where should I start with the shoe depth? The boat is a 1974 Hondo "ski Eighteen" it's real heavy, don't know how much it ways but it's heavy. Does anyone have any experience running one of these things hard? I think it's a splash of a southwind if that helps.
    Thanks -Matt

It all depends on the boat Rod, I've been in a few boats at 60 that ride scarier that the CP does at 98. But a 110 mph vee I'd stay away from at my age, I can always use the excuse that I have children to raise.

    .

Here are a couple of shots of my old ratty Hondo V-bottom in its last stage with a blown alcohol 557 BBC, it was a handful to drive.
    Sorry, no video to post.

What, no video! Well how can you qualify that statement " it was a handful to drive" without video?............ Just kidding. Thanks for the pics, that's my boat!

way too loose and yes, chine walked

shut down will vary from boat to boat, can't say how yours will shut down

I can say you need a tunnel hull with that horsepower
