    Default Volvo Jet Drive?

Does anybody know any thing on these. I've been told that they were basically a Berkley with a different name. Ive also been told that many of the Berkley parts will interchange with the Volvo. If not, how easy is it to get parts for them?

They are more Legend pump than Berkeley, and the intake is Volvo's design.

I know it well. We provided a Improvment kit for it some time ago.

It is a Berkeley pump designed for smaller motors Like a V6. It was submitted to Wellcraft for a complete new line of boats to come. It Failed the test!!!

Dominator and AT also supplied pumps for this program as did aggressor.

We were tested in Cal. & Florida and won, to be awarded a contract on our Jr Drive for these units, when Volvo went to the parent company and got our pump cancelled as Volvo owned 16% of Genmar which owned Wellcraft and 16 others. Volvo would not allow another Company to provide drive systems so we were cut out.

Your drive came from 1 of 2 sets of tooling built be berkeley. The tooling was sold 1 set went to Larry Smith who attempted to use it for smaller craft. Larry was Scarab before he sold the company to Wellcraft. The other set was picked up by an X employee's of Berkeley. That set of tooling ended up as Legend Pumps. Larry Smith sold his set of tooling to Volvo, which then hired one of berkeleys older people to redesign it. His total redesign ended up being to RAISE THE Suction up some 1+ inches, as Volvo did not want to change its oil pan to allow for a lower hook up. This was our fight with Volvo to begin with and we modified our test boats by putting lower pans on them. Mike Myer then president told me to find another supplier if Volvo would not make the Mods. I did by getting Crusader Motors which had a lower pan to begin with, and Wellcraft had done business prior with. Mike overnight was gone from the company, I had to fly out and pick up all our product, and you can verify what I am saying by measuring your center line on your driveline connection. 9" is the standard and you will find yours at 10" or better. I think your pump is a JPX by Volvo. We built mod kits to help a lot of the local dealers get out of them. The program lasted less then 10 months. I am sorry and do not know what to tell you to do about it.

There's some grand info. One of the "old guard" (pops) was eye-ball deep in them at one time.

    Thx for the info Pops.
