    Default Need Help!!!

I bought two Demon Blower carbs for my boat, Had to send them both back to the factory cause both carbs had bad bowls (the casting on the inside) get them back, take them to PC carbs in Ontario to be "gone Thur"
They tell me that they are P.O.S. when compared to Holly's, which I agree, my engine has never held a consistent idle, and cuts out all the time (due to fuel delivery) I'm running one of those new race mechanical fuel pumps so thatS not the problem.

Bottom line b4 I spend $1500-$2000 for a holly set-up, does anyone know of a shop that can work on my waste of money, poorly made,crappy-ass demons?????

    thanks guys

I've used Demon carbs many times in the past with Excellent results.

What exactly did the shop state was wrong with them? I've always thought them to be considerably nicer carbs than holley's.

likewise here. I run a demon as well and it sure is better then my holley was. U know the guy left holley and started his own buss makin his copy of a holley a better carb.... its not the other way around bro. U probabaly went to a old timer whos stuck in the past and dont like learing somethin new..so its easier to bad mouth it then take time to figure it out.

Ive had good results with mine. The guy I bought it from also thought it was junk and couldnt get it to work right. They are a little finicky at first but once you figure out how to adjust them they run Hard!
    My 02 cents

the bowls where the needle and seat go into were just messed up, not allowing them to make a good seal, it was the casting. so I sent them back, they sent me out better ones but they were not perfect. I slapped them on (what choice do i have) but the engine has yet to run right, I think I was the only boat to get towed back in at the tom papp run.
PC carbs showed me what it should look like inside and how perfect it should be (side by side w/a holly) ya night and day... It was sad to see. b4 I start over i just need some options.

He didn't bad mouth it was more me!!! he showed me mine out of the box right next to his out of the box and the difference was MASSIVE,I'm not a mechanic thats why i pay someone to build my stuff, we did all the homework and narrowed down the options, the Demons is what we are left with, from what I was told was that the main body are pretty identical to the the Holly's,the bowls are where the difference is, and thats where my problems are, the mains are perfect.

Holley and BG needle valves are about the same...if not exactly the same. They seal on the bowl side with an O-ring, and on the outside with 2 fiber washers. The holes where the needle valves go would have to be either square or so worn out that the needle valve threads wouldn't engage any more in order for the valve to leak around the outside. Another possibility is that the valve is simply shot, which apparently happens, although I've never had one leak without a piece of crud stuck in it. I think your carb guy is might be

Also, you said "I'm running one of those new race mechanical fuel pumps so that's not the problem"

...right... race shit always works just like it should.

Whats your fuel pressure at idle and WOT?

the engine, carbs, everything is new, so nothing is old or worn out,
at idle I think I saw about 7 or 8 on the guage, never had it over 45 mph so dont know about WOT yet. still working out the bugs. like this problem

the mechanical pump is supposed to be able to put out some ungodly amount of gas, so Its not like its getting enough gas.

i just need the name of a good shop or guy that knows demons,
so I can see what he thinks.

I don't like finicky. I'd rather bolt on and go. Wonder why Summit dropped them?

I had the same issues with the Demon 850. There was a guy on Hot Boat that Emailed me that worked with or for Demon. He told me that you cant Tune a Demon like a Holley. This is where most shops go wrong and why they hate the Demons. I'll see if hot boat is still there and try to retrieve the post.

Nope its gone. The PM that is
    Takin it home

We've had nothing but greif with Demon carburetors. Threw a big box of them away when we moved; that we have taken off of customers engines, after seeing what they did compared to a good Holley on the dyno. Now and then we see someone who loves them and has good luck, but that is not the norm.
Go with a good Race Holley and I think you'll be a lot happier. If you have to switch, I'm a warehoiuse distributor for all Holley Products and can save you a ton of money.

Send them to C&J Engineering in Whittier. John is the man.
