    Question Pump Shaft ???

A friend of mine is building a 540 BBC and he ask me about the pump shaft, does he need to step it up, or can he get away with a stock berk. shaft? the pump will have a S.S. A impeller, inducer ect. the engine is gonna be around 850hp, this boat will have minimal racing on it, its just a lake boat ! so what do you guys think? thanks

I ran 800 hp on a stock shaft for 2 summers, 20 hours total. Trick is to keep it out of the chop, keep the pump loaded. Running hard in chop is too much fun, so I've got an AQ shaft now. Stock shaft still looks fine.

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder!
