    Default NJBA members.

As some of you know, My father and I Teched for the NJBA in the past. When doing this, we noticed that some drivers did not have meditags, or some just forgot them from time to time. Those are important and is also a rule to have one to compete. The Njba supplies you with the "FORM" "Card" or call it a "TAG". The Holders that go around your neck are not provided by the club. So we decided to take the time, to go down and purchase the holders ourselves, for the racers convienence. I would buy 20-30 at a time. I would pay about $4.25 each plus tax for them, print the tags, and have them ready for the racer at the time of teching there boats, at there pit, and charge $5 for them. It was easier to charge an even $5, so that I would not have make change.
If any racer feels that he got the short end of the stick, please post right here on this thread.
Our intentions were to provide for you, Take a load off of the club .

I'm guilty of forgetting to wear my tag, I have no problem with charging for them in the future. Thanks for the reminder, it is a very important piece of safety if the time were to arise. I'll be sure to try and remember to wear mine next season.

Please note that I am not the tech inspector for 09. This only pertains to the past years.

What is this all about Joe?

Hopefully someone is not giving you a hard time about supplying the racers with the meditag holders, if so thats lame!! I appreciate what you guys do and can honestly say you do the best job of teching boats.

my issues with the $5 meditag were way before joe ever teched. and it didn't include any holder. it's one thing to pay $5 for a holder/lanyard/tag, another thing entirely to expect $5 just for a small piece of paper.

if i charged you $5 for all the meditags i gave you, it would probably fund a whole season for me.

Chris, some people think that the club is to supply these. I have even had some tell me that they can get them cheaper at costco or staples. I am commenting on this for two reasons.
One is to clearify that if you do not have one, go get one, or pay $5 at the track.
The other reason is I have heard of some bitching about the NJBA tech, and If someone does have anything to say, they have a right to speak up.
And thank you Chris for the kind words, because I do enjoy helping the club and the members run safe. My Dad also enjoys it, and we do know its a little intimidating for the new racers. Armond and Nick Perata do a good job, and they dont give anyone any grief . We only help if we are asked. The NJBA knows that if they need someone, we will do it.

I agree 5 bux for a 2 x 5 piece of yellow paper is lame. Ive lost doznes of tags Bob, this is true. But in 08' I ran 1 tag all year till I got my toolbox stolen in Sept. and since I kept it in my box it was gone. Had a hard time getting a new one at the next race in Oct. You used to get so pissed when I asked for a new tag every race, LOL.

5 bucks for a holder AT THE TRACK? who ever is complaining about that is a toolbag.

I know I have spent a whole lot more just for a lanyard. I did get mine witha holder and lanyard at IHBA but I am not sure that they still do that. Joe it is actually a great service you are providing and If everyone knows that you are the one supplying these if anyone bitches, they can eat $#it. If you want to race things cost money. If you think you are going to profit from boat racing you have another thing coming. Fun costs money. Plain and simple. If it is free, it usually isn't worth doing.

I have never heard of the NJBA charging for meditags, and I have been on and off with them since 92. I have spoken with Alan Anderson and his son, and he said that he never charged anyone. So other than B.P. 298, having a $5 issue, does anyone have any suggestions that will improve safety, and not ad extra cost to the racer? If so, Please, mention it, because this info does not fall on deaf ears.
I do have a recomemdation for drivers, that I have used and plan on using again, now that I am going to run my boat fast. I have a football helmet style mouth piece, that fastens to the helmet. This will help you from biting your tongue off in an accident. The simple slip ins are not that good of an idea, because you can choke on them. The helmet style has a lip guard as well, and that will help protect your teeth. If you run an open face, you should always have one. Just a suggestion .
