Default CP tunnel as a lake/river boat?

Is anyone running a CP 18 tunnel as a lake/river boat. I have a really nice drag boat. It's been a single seat all of its life. I'm considering installing 2 seats and turning it into a lake boat.

    Cool

I've seen them at the Drags, but never on the lake...if you have driven this boat, only you can make that choice

Lots of CP gullwings run around here on the river. I assume that's what you are talking about?

They would suck as a lake boat, I am scared for you. So scared that I will buy that hull and do it myself just so you are safe! Don't thank me, just looking out.

I know a few guys who ran an X dragrace Jet boat on the lake.
The hull was so lightweight it broke and delaminated in several spots.

After that and the many repair jobs the hull was pretty much useless to anyone.

Gullwing very different from a full tunnel, so I assume the OP was asking about the tunnel version. I had one years ago, and I always felt if the motor shot off, I was getting wet..... Period........ I know some guys have run them as a lake/river boat for years, just gotta be on your game as far as wiring, fuel system, etc.. Eliminate (or at least minimize) ANYWAY for an unexpected shutdown...

They are damn quick, but better suited for the track IMO..... There are far better options..... Just my .02.... If anybody doubts this, Give Bill Scotten a call and ask him, he is very open about the capabilities and safety limits of the tunnel....

I had one converted from dragboat to riverboat. it made a right turn on shutoff and ran up on the beach. I stripped it and sold it and bought a gullwing, best move I ever made.

Tim Ratcliff ran the 509 No Respect CP, way before it had pods, on the lower river for years! That thing was wicked quick & yes we knew that if it shut down he might get wet, but if it didn't he'd be hard to beat! Was it the safest thing to do? Probably not, but it was a riot running that boat! Hell Ronny Beck is still running a Texas Tunnel 16 down there I think he's only been in the toolies a few times!!!!!
