Default Repair of threads on reverse cable packing nut

    Hi Folks,
I have my transom plate off and the female threads on the plate for the reverse cable are in need of attention. So I figured while its off now is a good time. What is the best method, Helicoil, insert or what do you folks recommend? Any info is welcome. Thanks

Are you referring to the threads in the transom adaptor for the stainless cable packer ? if so I don't suspect you will find a helicoil for that application , honestly might just want to scrap the piece , good used transom plates are cheap and readily available Tom

You might try a bulkhead fitting...I have one for my fuel line through wood/gelgoat. They can be tightened on both sides. Works well...

Thank you very much for the info. Wasn't sure if it was repairable.
