Default How many different types of steering tubes are used on jets

Mine is a straight tube with a nut on the inside of the transom an the outside of the transom that doesn't allow much movement. Tom indicated I need a grommet that allows a little bit of flexibility. So the nuts just compress the grommet into the opening ? Then is the tub just supposed to wiggle around on the grommet?

A steer tube bushing when properly installed will seal well and give the flex/pivot needed and avoid binding , this is one of our conversions but same concept , note the little fat roll between the nut and the hull

The tack welds on the little nut on the right were broken , so I had it welded yesterday and didn't realize there was an o-ring in there. Anybody have some specs on it so I go to the local hardware and get something that works?
