    Default First pump apart, questions..help

This is the first time I've had a jet pump apart. The first indication of a situation is there was no oil in the bowl. the seal seems to have crept up towards the impeller. The bearings feel smooth the shaft feels smooth, I have not had a chance to measure them yet. I'm trying to remove impellor to clean up the nicks on and take side, I have the nut removed but I'm not sure what kind of forced to use on the Impeller to remove it? The questions are how do I remove the impeller? how do I know if the bearings need replacement? Is there a clearance spec for the bearing shaft? and where can I find it? It's a 12JG pump and has an Agressor impeller. It's marked "LA 4" on one side and has "B" on the other side

Would appear that the bowl seal simply came loose and allowed the bowl to drain out, shaft looks OK simple to re install a new seal could be other circumstances but would need more info and measurements , maybe cement it in with a bit of rtv ,All Aggressor impellers start life big (AAA+) , your impeller has been cut to what appears to be a "B" and re stamped to reflect that re cut

I can handle all that ! Do the fins on the bowl need to be sharpened? Would it help? Cut to a "B" means more out of the hole or top end? better for speed or skiing? should I measure anything as far as the shaft vs bearing? how do I get that impeller off?

Couldn't hurt to clean the bowl inlet and exit up and detail them, re the B and how it performs , depends on you particular engine build and where it makes power , your boat size, weight, useage etchttp://www.jetboatperformance.biz...alculator.html , if you don't have an actual impeller puller to grip the hub , you can try a good 2 or 3 jaw call if need help

You need one of these to remove the impeller:

First you must heat up the impeller with a torch around the shaft area. You will need a impeller removal tool.

Without the tool I would heat it up and use a rubber hammer to see if it breaks loose, probably not if its been on there a while. Use gloves and try and pull it off.

B gets you out of the hole better

I looked at that puller link Jet Pump Impeller Puller - Berkeley Jet Drive

, how does that attach, I have an automotive 3 leg puller. I will try to heat it up and tap it a bit and try that first im guessing.

Here's my rat file detail, what do you think? Should I just buy a new impeller or what? I could blend the leading edge back a little bit keeping it sharp but I don't know how critical it all is. for a 400 horse River Boat. It was slipping real bad before, I could nail the gas it would go to six grand, had to nurse it out of the hole never could use it from a punch.

You need to measure the od of the impeller and the ID of the wear ring I use a big set of calipers
The front edge being beat up like that really shouldent give you those conditions

Too much shoulder/wear ring clearance. Got room for a stuffer plate?

Not sure how much room is in there. What is a stuffer worth in performance all day everyday? No matter what gain?
