From HB mod before forums were shut down

    ATTENTION!!! Please Read.
First off, DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!!

I do not work for HotBoat but have recently been asked to help with the message boards as there is no one left to do so.

HotBoat is no longer in publication under the current, or past ownership. The print magazine has been completely shut down. The company now resides with a law firm and is in the process of negotiation with a new potential buyer.

I do not have any information regarding subscriptions or advertising in relation to either the print magazine or this site.

I am sorry if some of you have current subscriptions that will not be filled or refunded. I do not know what the outcome of that will be, if any.

I have been told that this website will be shutting down very shortly with no notice, other than this post.

I too have enjoyed HotBoat for many years and am sad that it has come to this.

I just wanted to post up this information as many of you have had questions. Unfortunately this is all of the information I have been given about the matter. If I hear anything else, or the information changes, I will let you know.

    Thank you

That's what happens when you only feature manufacture boats and take all the cool old river boats out of the equation. They alienated there best customers: all of us. All of us with old school flatties, old school Jets, old school daycruisers. In my opinion the average guy is the magazine customer and HB's features went above what the average boater can afford. People want to dream but they also want to read about stuff they can relate to. The cookie cutter flame gelcoat boats have no originality or charcter. They did it to themselves. if I ran that book I would have filled it with flatties, cool river jets, old school V-drive/jet cruisers. I would have done more restoration coverage, engine build articles, human interest pieces, history type stories-you know interesting and cool shit. What a shame that the mag is gone. It could have been turned around but the power of the advertising dollar and the necessity to fill the mag with manuf. boats ruined it and took the grassroots feel completely away. I have the presence of mind to start my own custom boat magazine and show 'em how its really done. Its about the guy who saves for a month straight to go to the river. Its about the guy who leaves his house towing his 18 foot flatbottom to the river and has to get through the weekend on $600 bucks. That's the reader, that's the customer, that is reality. Shame on Hot Boat for forgetting that. I lost a handful of issues I'll never get back but worst of all I won't get the time back I wasted looking at it. Towards the end the past few years the Performance Section was the only section worth looking at. Hopefully PB can hit a homerun in HB's absence.
