Default Bad vibration 3k. Pump or ujoint video inc

Hi guys boat had been running great for 10days no issues took it out yesterday had bad vibrations found a rock stuck in output vane of bowl, removed tried again today same issue.

Nothing stuck in the grate, or impellar that I can see, wondering if a ujoint popped or something. watching the shaft while doing this with two people underneath shows no movement on shaft. Does this look or sound like a bad ujoint? On a car I'd say yes, but this is my first jet.

If it was running fine then all of a sudden you had a vibration and found rocks in the bowl, I'd say there are more rocks in there. The u joint is worn, but I don't think it would just all of a sudden create the issue you are having. u joint issue would be something more gradual. You may have more rocks stuck on the exit side of the impeller or the front side of the bowl. Only way to take a look at that is to remove the bowl.

Thanks I wondered how much space was in there. That will be a job for when I return home. I did just re grease the zerks and now the slop is almost gone, will wait till tomorrow to test as I had to reinstall the grate and want the lock tight to setup

The only other think encountered was a pretty good storm when I was beached waves were crashing over the back and the PTO was wondering if it could have washed some grease.

    Appreciate the information.

    You were dead on correct.

Any thoughts on the small crack and bend in the impeller. I am guessing it has been there as it is the opposite direction of the rock.
would like to wait on a full rebuild till fall will funds will be a little easier.

needs to be repaired or replaced. from the pic, not that big a deal to have repaired, nor is it bank breaking. just pull the impeller, put it in a box and send it... wouldn't waste time or gas trying to run it that way. get it repaired by someone that knows how and you're back on the water next weekend...

Be sure to use a impeller puller specifically and not a 3 jaw. Also, be sure to keep track of all the shims between the impeller and the shaft register, there may be several or just one but they're critical. You got lucky there, could have been much worse. How does the leading edges of the impeller and bowl vanes look?

appears as though there is a lot of cavitation pitting in that vane which lends credibility to your assumption of a pre-existing cond. I would think you might have felt some sort of vibration from that too, certainly and un-balanced impeller cond.
