FWIW. The "CFZ" in the HIN identifies this hull as manufactured by "California Homemade Boats".
The last digits in the HIN appear as "000" which may suggest the manufacturer year was 1980.... but that is an educated guess on my part

    Additional Edit:
    Found this info as well....

the CFZ hin number is issued by the state of calif. for home made boats and other boats made by individuals. it does not describe a specific manufacturer. this is also a misc. classification by the state for boats that do not have a HIN number and the manufacturer cannot be identified.

the boat was either made by a home builder (private party) or the manufacturer is unknown.

    hope this helps

also saw a GFZ HIN as Gabriel Manufacturing out of Barstow ca. i was not sure if that was a G or C in the HIN. thanks for the help
how common was it for people to be making their own hulls in the 80's?
if so whould there be anything i should check hull strength or anything?

After looking harder, YES...I believe you may be correct. That appears to be more of a "G" than a "C". I would lean more toward the G and Gabriel Manufacturing...

As for your other questions.... maybe the Ca veterans can chime in, because I do not know
